คนไทยในสมัยก่อนถือได้ว่ามีความผูกพันธ์ใกล้ชิดกับธรรมชาติเป็นอย่างมาก ทั้งบริเวณที่อยู่อาศัย หรือ เครื่องใช้ในครัวเรือน มักแวดล้อมไปด้วยไม้

จึงไม่แปลกที่คนสมัยรุ่นคุณปู่-คุณย่า-คุณตา-คุณยาย จะมีไม้แผ่นใหญ่ หรือ ปีกไม้แผ่นเดียว เก็บไว้ภายในบ้าน บางครอบครัวมีแผ่นไม้สะสมไว้หลายสิบปี เพื่อเป็นมรดกสืบทอดให้แก่ลูกหลาน

แต่เมื่อสภาพแวดล้อมทางสังคมเปลี่ยนไป ความเป็นสังคมเมืองเข้ามามีอิทธิพลมากขึ้นในชีวิตประจำวัน บางครั้งไม้เก่าเก็บจึงถูกละเลยและมองว่าไม่มีประโยชน์

ไม่รู้ว่าจะนำไปใช้ทำอะไรได้บ้าง เปลืองพื้นที่ในการจัดเก็บรักษา

จนถึงบางครั้งจำเป็นต้องขาย-ส่งต่อ ให้ผู้อื่นไป

เพื่อใช้งานได้จริงในชีวิตประจำวัน จึงเป็นการนำวัสดุที่มีอยู่แล้วให้กลับมางดงาม เกิดมูลค่าและสามารถนำกลับมาใช้ประโยชน์สูงสุด

 

อีกทั้งยังเป็นมรดกตกทอดที่ส่งมอบให้ลูกหลานได้ใช้งานและเห็นคุณค่าของไม้แผ่นเดียวในแต่ละแผ่นได้อีกด้วย
